Coexistence

“Coexistence” where people and wildlife coexist in Hokkaido’s natural environment. It sounds wonderful, but I am sure that all coexistence is an environment that is biased toward human convenience. I wonder if the goal of coexistence is to live as we did in the past, when Hokkaido was called Ezo.

Humans have developed, evolved, and pioneered technology, and wildlife has adapted to this. This is the urbanization of wildlife that is happening now. Wild animals are living in the artificial nature created by humans. This was thought to be a new way of coexistence, but considering global warming and the impact it has had on nature and wildlife, this coexistence should evolve further.

What form does this new coexistence take? Although people and wildlife live in the same land of Hokkaido, we need to think of “sharing” or “zoning” and respect each other’s existence while maintaining a distance from each other. At the same time, it is the role of people to create an environment where wild animals can live safely and securely in a segregated nature.

By doing what we can do now, we want to pursue the best “coexistence” and support it to the best of our ability. It is this desire that led to the establishment of Aplus.
