生物多様性とは、さまざまな生物が複雑に関わりあって、現在の地球環境を構築していることを意味する。私たちは生物の多様性により、地球環境の恩恵を受け、その豊かな暮らしがここにある。例えば、森から流れるミネラルにより、海の中でプランクトンが増殖し、そのプランクトンを食す生物により豊かな海ができる。そして、その豊かな海で育った魚を野生動物が食し、一部が腐敗し、海の栄養が、森の栄養となる。地球上では、このような、美しい生態系のバランスが保たれている。

このように複雑に絡み合った地球環境を守るため、豊かな生活を持続可能なものにするため、生物多様性を維持することはとても重要で必要不可欠といえる。

Biodiversity means that various organisms are intricately involved in building the current global environment. We benefit from the global environment through the diversity of living things, and the richness of our lives is derived here. For example, minerals flowing from forests cause plankton to multiply in the ocean and the organisms that eat the plankton create a richer ocean. Then, wild animals eat the fish grown in the rich sea, and some of them decompose, and the nutritients from the sea becomes nutrition for the forest. On earth, such a beautiful ecosystem is balanced.

In order to protect the global environment, which is so intricately intertwined, it is very important and essential to maintain biodiversity in order to sustain a rich life.
